Throughout the year we have introduced the children to many different authors. This week we looked at several books by Eric Carle. While reading his books we focused on the characters in the stories and used this as an idea for our own free writing. We also looked at his illustrations and made our own "Eric Carle paper/prints" with textures using items such as: potato mashers, cotton balls, sponges, Popsicle sticks, strainers, straws, and beads. Next week the children will have the opportunity to explore with the paper they made and maybe even make some of their own illustrations. You can visit Eric Carle's website at: http://www.ericcarle.com/ and watch some of his videos about how he makes his illustrations.
